Re: Movie Trailers thread
I keep noticing that nearly all trailers in this thread present the same contextless close-up character face as the image you click on to watch. I just don't have time to click on every emotional movie star I see.
I was talking with students the other day about genre (whether books, movies, music, etc) and how book covers and movie posters (and perhaps album covers too) have the task of letting you know in a glance what kind of material they're referencing. Obviously there are exceptions (sometimes intentionally vague ones), but almost all of the time you can identify genre from a book cover or a movie poster. Often you even get a clear sense of mood or style as well.
This seems like something video trailers could exploit, but apparently they don't. Interestingly, the icons you click on for streaming-service selections are usually better at this.

You'd probably be best served by only watching the first half. It has Honey, I Shrunk the Movie Syndrome

Re: Movie Trailers thread
I appreciate your extra effort in posting the posters. Really helps me decide if I want to watch the trailer or not. I also appreciate your posting the trailers, if I haven't said that before.

Re: Movie Trailers thread
Thank you. The posters will probably give a better insight than contextless close-up character face #207.

(Incidentally, I wasn't complaining about you, Isgrim, but about the way videos present themselves online.)Holman wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 6:00 pm I keep noticing that nearly all trailers in this thread present the same contextless close-up character face as the image you click on to watch. Re: Movie Trailers thread
I know, but it still brought it up that there’s a better way to represent the content than the YouTube screenshot.
