I will be forty in four months. I have (some) wrinkles, (numerous) grey hairs, and (several) liver spots. Some days a walking stick would not be out of the fucking question.

I noticed my hand getting wrinkles around 40. Before 50 they were old man hands with a year of then gots me an old man's neck. Didn't think that would happen this "young". My kids think 40 is old, except when it comes to their parents. I'll be 50 this year but "daddy's not old."

I noticed a couple years ago the skin on the back of my hand no longer seems as good as it used to when i bend my hand back. And this year at 55 I noticed the old man neck waddle starting I think. Hate that and the chin thing. I used to have a better jaw . This..this is why I keep a goatee.

side note: i love the narrative device that is used in EVERY story or show about an immortal person. they're ALWAYS shown interacting with the most famous people or events in history. how they just happen to know which person or even will stand the test of time is never answered. if i were immortal, I'd always be the guy who showed up for the invention of the leather shoe lace or the opening of the 24th Chuck E. Cheese or something.

But beauty is only skin deep, and I'm definitely feeling the 51 on the inside.

Also, when I joined GG I was in my 20s. That's terrifying.

I just turned 53 in December and don't look it. I've always looked younger than I was. Mmy wife has as well and she's 10 years older than I am.
We always made out at those guesd yoyr age carnival games. Even if they got clise to ine if us the afe gap totally messed with them for the other.
Even with all my medical issues I dont look it. Even more so since I started losing weight.

Same. I credit Blackhawk's excuse of "lack of sun" couple with some good genes. My dad didn't really start turning grey until he hit his 60s, and even now in his 70s it's more salt and pepper than full blown grey. My mom is the same way - she's in her early 70s and could pass for mid-to-late 50s.

I consider myself consistently about 10 years less mentally mature than I should be, though, so maybe my body's just trying to keep things consistent.

I have a picture on my wall of myself and my father when he was exactly the same age I am now. He looks considerably older than I do. He's got salt-and-pepper hair, but it's mostly white with some dark hairs here and there. Mine is the opposite. He's noticeably wrinkly. The one thing I have on him is a semi-bald spot (there's hair there, but it's thin) if I haven't shaved my head in a while.

My appearance was more or less static for a long time but think I've aged visibly in the past year or two. Looking my age doesn't bother me but I'm occasionally taken aback when a young person treats me like a senior citizen. Still no chicken neck, at least.

But realistically, they would likely have lots of wealth and power. Why wouldn't the guy who is immortal be the commander of the Roman army? He could certainly lead the charge in battle and would likely be a big help in winning said battles. Over the course of time he could certainly amass a fortune. Even if you take out the ability to live through countless battles and ascend to the throne someone who is immortal has many many chances to get lucky. Sure, there could be unlucky and stupid immortals but I would think those would be the ones who happen to get put in jail for something like accidentally killing the prince.

It's also not much different than tales of heroes like Band of Brothers or Masters of the Air. Hundreds of thousands of other people died but these characters lived through WW2. They went on to meet Eisenhower or Churchill.

That said, it could be a pretty good twist to write a story/movie about the Barney Fife of immortals. Always screwing things up and just floating through 2,000 years of life having to be bailed out all the time by his immortal friend, Andy.
