Gotta keep it exciting!El Guapo wrote:ok well...that game against the Cowboys could have gone a bit better. Now we get to debate whether Jones or Zappe is going to start the next game.
The Bears currently hold the top 2 picks in the draft. The first is from their own incompetence and the second is from the Panthers' incompetence (from the trade that allowed the Panthers to pick Bryce Young first!).Unagi wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 5:42 pmCarpet_pissr wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 4:29 pmYou can have our #1 pick, Bryce Young. I took the boy out to lunch. We left with the Bears up 28-7 against the lowly Broncos. We had a 0.4 mile walk home. When we got home, the game was tied. That's some impressive losing.ImLawBoy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 8:56 amThe Bears currently hold the top 2 picks in the draft. This game was much better than the prior ones. If the Bears are going to lose, I want them to do so in spectacular, entertaining fashion.
TS does nothing for me in appearance or music. You would think she was going to perform at halftime the way they hyped it up. Buncha creepy old men.Carpet_pissr wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 8:38 am Gah, that Jets result burns me up, and I’m not very invested in many NFL games.
They had the Chief’s number, and the absolutely ATROCIOUS holding call against #1 on the Jets changes the outcome of that game in a big way.
Also, so happy I’m not a KC fan. You can tell the NBC production team/management told everyone from the cameramen to the announcers to REALLY make a big deal about Taylor Swift, gah. The fawning and coverage was over the top IMO. Going to be a long season for anyone who’s not a TS fan, but follows the Chiefs.
Men older than me giggling like schoolgirls over her presence. I’m only shocked I didn’t hear literal ‘tee-hees’.
I bet the Saudi’s would be open to talking about that.
There was reporting last week that the KC game was the most watched program of the week by far and I forget how many additional estimated viewers there were, but it was a lot.msteelers wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 11:54 am I’ll give the benefit of the doubt this time that’s it not them being creepy old men, and instead being overly excited that they can tap into a huge fan base that might not have had a ton of overlap with the NFL before. Kelce’s jersey sales spiked 400% in the last week or two.
There’s money to be made, and the networks and league are going to do their best to hoover up every dime.
And while I enjoyed joking about it with my wife and family before the game, the amount of times they cut to her last night quickly got old.
I just got a push alert that the game last night was the most watched TV event since the Super Bowl, due to Taylor Swift.LordMortis wrote:There was reporting last week that the KC game was the most watched program of the week by far and I forget how many additional estimated viewers there were, but it was a lot.msteelers wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 11:54 am I’ll give the benefit of the doubt this time that’s it not them being creepy old men, and instead being overly excited that they can tap into a huge fan base that might not have had a ton of overlap with the NFL before. I cannot believe how bad the Giants are right now. Jones looks awful. How could the Giants have invested so much money in him? But in his defense, the Giants O line might as well not even be on the field. Jones is getting pummeled. That's 11 sacks now. Not sure why the Giants haven't pulled him. Like it or not, the Giants invested in him. It would probably be best not to leave him out there to get killed!

A sack of magic beans (not including the sack, because this team is desperately lacking in those).Carpet_pissr wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 4:29 pmYou can have our #1 pick, Bryce Young. He even won the Heisman. Who you got?

I have no idea what you were looking at, that was clear defensive holding. Sauce let MVS run up on him, and then MVS attempts to cross his body. Sauce reaches out and grabs MVS’ left shoulder and alters his exit. That’s defensive holding.Carpet_pissr wrote:They had the Chief’s number, and the absolutely ATROCIOUS holding call against #1 on the Jets changes the outcome of that game in a big way.
Again, I will happily trade you our #1, Heisman-winning draft pick.ImLawBoy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 9:07 am Seems like the ghost of Butkus got into the Bears defense last night - they actually looked good for much of the game and got 5 sacks (they had 2 in 4 games coming in).
Fields also spent the last two games looking like a QB you could build around. Granted, one of those games was against the Broncos the week after they gave up 70, but progress is still progress.
Plus the Bears still have the No. 1 pick in the draft! (Keep losing Panthers!)
