Well shit...Meatloaf AND Louie.

I didn't discover Meatloaf until I Would DO anything For Love, But I wont Do That. Then went back and found his other stuff. Really liked his music and he seemed a great guy.

Louie I knew a bit from his stand up but more for his Saturday morning cartoon.

RIP to both and ya with both their weights I used to worry about them. Meat lost a lot of weight in his comeback. Damn man gonna miss Meatloaf.

Did not know about the NJ - Meat Loaf connection

Sad news of the passing of Meat Loaf today. Here is a little bit of trivia about the singer and his connection to New Jersey from issue #21 of Weird NJ...

Reference photos for the album cover illustration for Meat Loaf's famous 1977 album, "Bat Out of Hell" were shot in a section of the Deckertown Union Cemetery in Wantage, NJ. Locals may be able to recognize the tombstones if they look close enough.

Howard Case, of the Sussex County Historical Society at the time, said the groups' agent called from New York, asking if there were any old cemeteries suitable for the picture. Five cemeteries in the area were scouted out, and the Deckertown Union was chosen because of the tree lines. The photo session took six hours to complete.

A fog machine was used to create a smoky atmosphere, but broke down during the shooting. A local volunteered the use of his lawn mower filled with kerosene, which made enough smoke suitable for the picture. The group also brought along its own grave marker, a silver tombstone with "Meat Loaf" inscribed on it. In return for the use of the cemetery, Meat Loaf and Co. gave a donation to the cemetery association. The cover was illustrated by Richard Corben, who died in December 2020.

Back in the day, my friends and I would buy albums solely based on the cover artwork.
We were all into rock/heavy metal, so there were alot of great albums we just stumbled on using this criteria.

I remember buying Bat Out of Hell based on the cover alone and thinking how rockin it was going to be.
Wrong.

I didn't know what to make of Meat Loaf when he burst on the music scene. Was that the name of the band? The singer? What was his real name? Was he a real rocker or a novelty act? And why was he so fat? Nobody was that fat back in 1977.

I liked his songs OK, although not well enough to buy his albums. I didn't pay him much attention until he was in the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Sorry to hear that the covid took him, but 74 is a pretty good run.

Well, I'm 64, and I need to die before I become helpless and dependent. If I have 10 more good years left in me, that will do. Men in my family traditionally die at 68. (As an adoptee I'm not related to them, but it's sort of expected.)

I’m not a Buddhist, but I’ve known several people who say his teachings changed the course of their lives.

I don't know if they're brilliant design, but the variety of modes and the way they affect gameplay is impressive. I've been able to play both of them virtually and in person. Great fun either way. RIP.

Yeah this announcement actually got me back into (digital) pinball. I played ATTACK FROM MARS on the Williams iOS app and it's a ton of fun. Great table for folks like me who aren't super skilled at pinball, because it gives you a lot of play and the rules are easy to understand. I can see why that would be a very popular table in real life.

This also had me going down the rabbit hole of one day building my own virtual pinball table. That's a big dream of mine.

The Legends Pinball table is SO worth it. Best investment I've made in a long, long time. Warning though, most of the pre-installed tables are pretty lackluster. You really need to get all the Zaccaria DLC packs (or mod it to play Pinball FX3, which requires it's own gaming PC and lots of fiddling) to get your money's worth.

I'm seriously considering adding the Arcade 1Up table which includes both Attack From Mars and Medieval Madness to the collection next.

Edit: I just noticed you said “building” and not “buying”. My bad.

saw this one coming - i suspect most of his latest book from a few months ago ('Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet') was maybe at most skeletally written by him, and Sister True Happiness (or whatever her name is) did the rest.

Peter Robbins Voice of Charlie Brown Dead at 65 from Suicide

Peter's Agent, Dylan Novak, tells TMZ ... Peter checked himself into a mental hospital in California, shortly after Christmas. Novak says Peter was in a bad headspace, and the last time they spoke in Jan. Peter said... "I really need your prayers."

We're told the hospital staff encouraged Peter to stay there for a few more weeks, but Peter refused ... instead, he discharged himself on Jan 18, 2022. He was found dead sometime after that.
Robbins began voicing the Charlie Brown cartoon character, back in 1963... he also guest-starred in the 1968 sitcom "Blondie" and many other shows up until the 70s.

RIP to the man. He was my favorite character on WKRP as a kid. I accept death and understand the time spaces but then theres always this part of me that thinks "Wow I just watched that person when I was a kid in the 70s and now they have passed away. Its not rational but I still feel / think that in a little corner of my mind .

My folks showed me WKRP in the 90s and I loved it. I always remember the sobriety campaign episode in which his response times actually increase the more he drinks. I was always happy to see him pop up in other things.

Authorities say Kryst died Sunday after jumping from a 60-story building at 350 W. 42nd Street in New York City around 7:15 a.m. local time, The New York Post reports.

Kryst reportedly lived on the ninth floor of the Orion building and was last seen on a 29th-floor terrace, according to the outlet.
