The audience score is just too prone to trolling. I can recall numerous times that a bunch of people started dropping 0 percent scores on a movie because of idiotic incel crap, or political anger.

Star Wars 1-3 were visually interesting but the plot was weak and self-indulgent. Which proves my point that a lot has to come together for the movie to be great.

I actually do pay attention to IMDB ratings in one respect - they tend to trend lower than the critical average, so when I see an IMDB rating over 7 I sit up and take notice. If it's a horror movie, I take a close look at anything above a 6.

Individual ratings are useless, but aggregate ratings can be a useful tool as a yardstick for comparison.
