Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness

Post by Max Peck »

A Baldur's Gate style CRPG that began as a Kickstarter back in 2018 and will be coming to Steam Early Access next month.

I have to say, that's definitely a unique title.

Well, if nothing else they nailed the look of Baldur's Gate. It just needs a "you must gather your party before venturing forth" notification. :)

Looks interesting, but wow…that’s a really terrible name.

Incongruent word salad, but at least it's memorable.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

I don't know, makes some sense if crude oil is discovered in Ravenloft.

No, I think the only thing you can do is add it to your STEAM wishlist and purchase it the day it's released.
Maybe next year, maybe no go

You'd think so, but I, for one, had completely forgotten about it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'd forgotten about it completely. I had to double-check whether I'd added it to my Steam wish list for tracking.

This guy gives a good overview of the game. Interesting is 13 classes, also multiclassing available in character creation. No stat re-roll :( . Also a "greed" slider based on your actions, kind of like KOTOR. Plus he gives a 15% discount on GOG.

I figure this has been out long enough that most bugs have been squashed, so I going to drill down on it. You get to custom create up to 5 characters, so I went with the standard fighter/thief/mage/cleric and a summoner. You start with only your main, but pick up the others fairly early when you get out into the world. Level progression is pretty quick. I am just getting into the main story. The greed mechanic is interesting, I am trying to play nice. Not gushing so far but it is holding my interest.
