Steam money spent

Post by Punisher »

Just came across an article showing how to see how much you've spent on Steam.
https://www.dexerto.com/gaming/how-to-c ... m-2488870/

Not sure if it's based on actual money spent or just your games list. I'm assuming actual spent so of you bought something elsewhere like Fanatical or something then it's probably not totaled.
I'm almost at 27K for my lifetime.
It definitely sounds like a lot but not sure if it's average or not.
Still... wow.. and I'll probably never play most of them let alone finish.

A little over 9k. To get a real picture I'd need to add in everything from green man, humble and fanatical. Pretty much all of my day one purchases are through green man. I imagine that's a lot but the purchase history info on green man is not very helpful.

$4926. Not nearly as much as I thought.

I rarely buy games at full price or even a small discount, so maybe triple that if I had bought them without a good sale.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

TotalSpend 1996.06 USD
OldSpend 572.09 USD

Not sure if I feel good or bad about that level of spending.

$6,814, although their description doesn't really make it clear if TotalSpend includes OldSpend.

That's in 19.5 years, or $349 per year, or just under a dollar per day. Not horrible for a hobby and interest that's kept me entertained for decades.

Winning for most frugal so far!

Assuming JeffV and Kraken will come along and make me look wasteful with all the money I've spent. :p

For as much as you've given games way, I'm impressed. I guess that Steam doesn't count how much we've paid to GMG, Fantatical, directly to vendors, etc... D'oh! I think I've spent a bit more than two grand.

567.60 USD. 2624 games owned. I don't even want to know how much I've spent on game bundles.

Total Spend 3,194.02 USD
Old Spend 1,216.19 USD
I'm always way way behind so pretty much everything I buy is deeply discounted. And a chunk of that is the Steam Deck, I assume.

There's also going to be a big difference between someone who plays a variety of games and someone who plays, say, Civilization for 5,000 hours. They're not really comparable.

Code: Select all

TotalSpend	2073.22	USD
OldSpend	1495.74	USD

I have 1900 games in my library (on the dot). Six pieces of software. I have to imagine 75% of licenses were acquired via bundles and Green Man.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Like everyone, my dollars spent would be a bit more if we were counting other sites. ;)

As for all the games I've given away, some are games I have but a lot are from mystery bundles or humble bundle games I didn't want, or a couple times I forgot to pause my sub for the month (and stopped asking for refunds). As I've also gotten a far number of free games from folks on here, I am very happy to be able to give a fair number of games away too!

$1,884

Not surprised. Despite this being my main hobby, I lag behind 'normal' people in all categories (play time and $$ spent being 'all').

I assumed it didnt.

Total spend $20,803.54
Old spend $ 6387.82.

And apparently I'm WAY above average, at least here.

Oh. I just realized that might also include $1100 for the Index. So my total on games may be a lot lower.

Other thoughts...
- I assumed Total include Old
- Thankfully I don't actually have much outside of Steam

I can live with it. :)

I have 116 games and have spent $155.30 in my lifetime. The only place I've bought games is through Steam (although I have claimed free ones elsewhere).

Stats
370 games
C$3200 over 16 years of Steam membership
Averaging ~ C$200/year for ~ 23 games/year (??? Considering I don't find a lot in recent years' sales, I must have really "bargain binned" during the early years!)

First game purchased: Torchlight (C$5.00)
Most recent game purchased: The Invincible (returned), OKAMI HD (C$14.11)
So sayeth the wise Alaundo.
