This is the way.

I have a folder on my desktop labeled "Desktop" and when I get too much clutter, I simply drag everything into there and it's all shiny and new. I just have the "Desktop" folder left behind!

Yes, but it was a backup of the desktop from the pre-upgrade, OS reload of the pc.
It, too, had another desktop folder inside of it that was a backup of my laptop desktop.

I'm glad I'm not alone. Every time I do an OS wipe or upgrade, I also end up with that backup on my desktop. I could probably dig through those like an archeologist and re-discover certain points in my life over the last 20 years.

My desktop is my to-do list. It contains actively used programs (say, two games I'm actively playing), and stuff that needs done. When I get it done, I remove it. If it gets too cluttered, I'm getting behind and it bugs me enough to get it taken care of.

Ive always had icons all over my desktop. Thats what its for. I use a animated background and switch them out. Right now I have a futuristic city with flying ships passing by. Its like having a window for a desktop and its transparent so I can see outside. I used to make them myself then used VLC but now I use Wallpaper Engine from Steam.

In 1957, Jim Henson was approached by a Washington, D.C. coffee company to produce commercials for Wilkins Coffee. The local stations only had ten seconds for station identification, so the Muppet commercials had to be lightning-fast—essentially, eight seconds for the commercial pitch and a two-second shot of the product.

From 1957 to 1961, Henson made 179 commercials for Wilkins Coffee and other Wilkins products, including Community Coffee and Wilkins Tea. The ads were initially filmed at Rodel Studios in Washington D.C. The ads were so successful and well-liked that they sparked a series of remakes for companies in other local markets throughout the 1960s. The “Cannon” spot was one of his most popular and produced for at least 14 clients, such as Kraml Dairy, Red Diamond, Community, Nash's, and more.

The ads starred the cheerful Wilkins, who liked Wilkins Coffee, and the grumpy Wontkins, who hated it. Wilkins would often do serious harm to Wontkins in the ads—blowing him up, stabbing him with a knife, and smashing him with a club, among many other violent acts.
