Not something I'd go for, but someone might. I've always felt like anything I work for has value, and that which I cheat for is meaningless. I was just surprised that they have so many and so large glaring loopholes in the "economy" of the game when people have spent hundreds of millions on it.

Okay, yup. I can see why.

I picked up the cheapest Vehicle Warehouse last night and it didn't take long to make back more than 10% of my investment in it with two sale missions. I'm currently in the midst of acquiring cars and only selling off the high value ones, leaving the others in place as filler so I'll eventually only get high end cars to sell. The cars I stole valued from $60,000 to $100,000, minus, of course, the $2,000 for damages getting them there and $1,500 in damages getting them out. It seems to be impossible to dodge bullets.

This has exceeded all other businesses I had for revenue generation, combined. It also turns the Resupply missions on their ears and devalues them because saving $75,000 with 40 minutes of work might actually cost me $75,000 ... so I'll be buying stock from now on. I don't plan on shuttering them just yet, but they've been dropped in priority substantially. I think it'll still be worth it to run off and use 25 minutes between cooldowns to do a cargo run that brings in $120,000+.

I think my next goal is certainly the Nightclub and a Terrorbyte. Not because I want all that sweet sweaty Nightclub revenue, but because the Terrobyte is supposed to let me manage every business from one spot. I spend a lot of time flying and driving between locations now and would like to make that more efficient.

It's interesting to me how time priorities change as you gain more in this game.

Got a Mystery Prize in the Casino last night... and it was an amazing $30,000!

Manage some aspects from one spot. You can start resupply missions from the Terrorbyte. You cannot buy supplies from it.

Well, poo. I suppose it's at least useful to tell you how much supply is left at a location so you know whether or not the trip is worth it?

It's also useful for running some specific, Terrorbyte only, missions.

Usually what I will do is park it right outside of my warehouse. Then, I will source a crate/vehicle and return that to the warehouse. Next, I pop into the TB and will run the Bank Robbery mission. By the time I'm done with that, the cooldown timer on the source crate/vehicle mission will have reset so I can immediately do the next one.

Occasionally you will have overlapping cooldowns so I might make a vehicle delivery or just pop into my Blizzard and then run a CEO mission like the one where you kill the five targets and when you wrap that one up, your cooldown timer on the next source mission will be ready.

Rinse and repeat until your warehouse is full or you have something else specific to do.

Is there a benefit to having a full warehouse? I've been selling off my high end cars as soon as I get them and letting the lower-end ones accumulate.

Usually, if I'm referencing a "full" warehouse, I'm talking about the business "crates" warehouse or the nightclub warehouse. The vehicle warehouse is a bit different as you can sell, at most, four cars at once.

My vehicle warehouse is full but that's mostly so I can source/sell high-end cars almost exclusively.

The other warehouses you can fill with stock and then sell everything for a huge payoff.

We did this last night as as matter of fact. With the help of Blackhawk and BadDemo, I sold off (in addition to full stocks of cocaine, meth, and counterfeit cash) a full crate warehouse netting nearly $1M but also a slightly-more-than half full nightclub warehouse netting me well over $1M.

All in all, the nights sell missions netted me nearly $4M in total.

Now, while I'm not personally into abusing game code loopholes to rake in large sums of cash in a game where a sense of achievement comes from earning it, I've come to discover I feel entirely different about abusing systems that are already rigged and limited and don't provide me any cheating in the regular game mechanics. If I had to pay $10,000 in-game for each spin of the wheel, I probably wouldn't cheat it. Since I can only spin it once every real-time day and that's obnoxious, I don't mind. :confusion-shrug:

Enter the Casino bugs. I got the car over the weekend by combining two exploits into one system. Details below for any interested parties. Note that I can't guarantee this will work forever, or that Rockstar will not ban people for exploiting it. I've read about people getting temporary (7, 30, 90 days) bans from just the Casino for doing MUCH WORSE (horse betting scam netting them tens of millions), so this probably isn't going to be high on their hit list.
Spoiler:
  1. Open your Control Panel's Network Connections screen (where you can see your NIC's).
  2. Get your (real life) smart phone out of your pocket and go to the Clock > Stopwatch
  3. Start a new game of GTA Online, any session. Get in your favorite car and park it a couple blocks from the Casino. Close GTA Online and return to the regular game.
  4. Go back into GTA Online > Invite Only Session. These load faster than regular sessions, but you can't run business missions.
  5. Scoot over to the Casino and enter the lobby.
  6. Saunter up to the Wheel of Fortune.
  7. Activate it with "E"
  8. When you press "Enter" to activate the wheel, get ready to press "Start" on the stopwatch on your phone (step 2).
  9. When "Press "S" to Spin" comes up, start the stopwatch and move a finger to hover over "S"
  10. When approximately 4 seconds have elapsed, press "S"
  11. Watch as the wheel slowly plods around 3/4 of the way and lands on or close to the free car.
  12. If you did not get the car, determine if you spun either too soon (the Wheel overshot it) or too late (the Wheel didn't make it there).
  13. Adjust your timer expectations. This seems to be based on your reflex speed. For me, I need to wait until about 4.25 seconds.
  14. If you did not get the car, don't panic. Saunter over to the Table Games.
  15. Join a game of Roulette.
  16. Place any bet. The timer should be running.
  17. When the timer gets down to 30 seconds, ALT+Tab the game to the Desktop
  18. Disable the Network Adapter you use for internet connectivity in the Control Panel screen.
  19. Alt+Tab back to the game.
  20. Wait until the game kicks you from being Online and returns you to Story Mode.
  21. Alt+Tab back to Windows and activate your Network Adapter.
  22. Alt+Tab back to GTA Online > Retry/Reconnect and go back to Step 4...
The way this seems to work is:
  • An Invite Only session guarantees the Wheel's starting position with the free car a few spaces to the left of the arrow.
  • The Wheel only seems to have a limited time to be active, maybe 7ish seconds... but if you wait more than 5 seconds, it'll kick you and ask you to start over. By exploiting the activation time limit, the game can't spend time spinning the wheel around and around and you can force the it to land on a selection before it even makes one loop.
  • If you fail to nail the timing, using the Roulette wheel lets you Alt+Tab out of the game without it being sneaky and saving your progress. If you Alt+Tab without a timer counting down, the game will save your progress immediately.
  • I park the car a couple blocks away as parking right in front of the Casino kept getting me a message every other time I tried to enter the Casino saying something about the game not registering my data and dumping me. By parking a little further away, I was able to circumvent that message and having to start over again. The servers didn't like me reconnecting and entering the Casino so soon after dumping out of it.
  • For some very strange reason, your rewards are saved even if your "progress" isn't, though RP's earned on the wheel don't seem to duplicate. I'm guessing Rockstar has two services running that don't talk to each other. One saves what you've earned (instantly), the other saves the events you've completed (at loading screens or when you Alt+Tab).
Ideally, once you figure out your timing, you'll just spin the wheel once per week and get the car.
Because I didn't have much use for the car, I brought it to the body shop to see what I could sell it for. The answer was $3250. I didn't sell it, but instead changed the paint and added bullet-proof tires in case I ever use it. I also won a free Bravado Gauntlet as a Mystery Prize while trying to find my timing, which I offloaded for $3200 (you can steal this car from the street and save it; I have one already suped up in my garage). So this isn't a big-earning, game-breaking exploit. It's just a way to get the free car or repeat attempts at Mystery Prizes, which may or may not be better than anything else you already have. I have heard that some more interesting autos may be on the podium in the future, not just more super cars.

On the flip side, I opted to pick up the MOC Truck & Trailer for my Bunker. I don't even know what the hell I'll do with it, but it was on sale and was the only "Command" vehicle I could get at the moment. I still need to add in the Command module and vehicle/weapons workshop.

I've really been enjoying the vehicle acquisition missions for the Warehouse, but find the sale missions very repetitive. In acquiring so far, I've had to steal cars from police chases, snatch them off barges in the ocean using a helicopter, steal them from beach-front photo shoots, silently knock out guards to look for keys, etc ... but in delivery missions, it's always "Drive two blocks, get out just before the first red dots appear and run AWAY from the car, survive four waves of very accurate and very angry opponent drivers, then get back in the car and deliver it safely." Trying to fight the 4 waves of nasties from inside the car can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000 as they ram it and shoot the crap out of it. :hawk:

Took 3 spins to get the Dinka Jester Classic. It's an 8.3 on the speed meter, making it faster than anything else I own, and it handles pretty well. While I really like my Obey Omnis, it's a tiny bit slower and has protrusions around the fenders that keep getting me snagged as I pass cars at full speed. I accidentally threw something like $200,000 at customizing the Jester Classic and it's a beautiful midnight purple with blacklight neon sides.

Spent less time with the game this weekend due to my computer's death and revival as well as the kids wanting to delve back into Terraria, which sparked a renewed interest in that for me and one of my project worlds.

Getting better at it; it was two spins this time to get the Schlagen GT. A pretty sexy car with a nice default color that looks like a nice bit of speed and luxury. I've been enjoying driving it around. It handles a little like a moose, but feels pretty well glued to the road. As long as you're aware you'll need to make some adjustments for it not being wildly responsive in sharp turns, it's a good drive.

I can see more and more why someone would "shutter" their other businesses aside from stealing cars. For a time/profit ratio, the Vehicle Warehouse seems like it can't be beat by anything else I could do. I'm already at a point where the majority of cars I get sent to pick up are Top End. Very few open slots for lower-end cars. I'm close to getting the Nightclub, which will lead me to the Terrorbyte - which will let me park it right outside my Vehicle Warehouse and run missions from there instead of hauling ass back to my CEO desk.

Still enjoying the game, more now that I'm not doing UPS missions that take almost 30 minutes to finish.

I do see Blackhawk and Brian on regularly, but they seem tied up in whatever they're up to and/or have a regular 4-person group running. If anyone catches me around, I'm up for running missions or causing chaos.

I'd say the same. :D

I know you guys do a lot of AFK. I just haven't had much luck joining you and kind of assume you're in a good place team-wise. It was fun playing with you when we did. When I'm on, it's almost 100% solo, so I'm always available. I don't sit on AFK and spend most of my time now running vehicles & doing playlists. I've completely stopped doing Restock missions and care less daily about selling my stock (thinking about switching the Bunker to 100% research). If I get another UPS truck mission... :hawk:

I have my bunker on research these days, too. The 'ideal' method is to have the bunker, meth, coke, and counterfeiting businesses running in the background while alternating car and CEO missions, but these days I'm only really playing if the whole group is playing.

I can see how that gets.

I'm getting burned out on making money so I can spend it and feel like short of running exploits, I'm doing it about as fast as possible in the game. Even that rate is fairly slow, running a couple car exports in an hour for $160,000 plus a filler mission twice for $40,000. That $200,000/hr is if I focus hardcore on farming cars, running time-killers, and everything lines up perfectly.

Last night I only played long enough to acquire a couple cars and sell one off.

It looks like they closed the loophole to time your spins to get the car easily; the wheel times out at the exact moment you'd need to spin. It's still a timed thing, though, so I suppose a person could keep trying to find the exact timing with a spin that rolls over once, but that gets increasingly harder.

If you don't like that, you're back to disconnecting at the roulette wheel and just trying another random spin after. That kind of means I probably won't bother unless a car comes up that I feel like I simply need. I've got a fast car that I really like, the Schlagen GT. The current car looks like it's statistically better in every way, but I don't know that I need it bad enough to want to hammer the exploits for an hour trying to get it. Each day I give the wheel a few spins and try different timings. :confusion-shrug:

The Summer Update isn't really much to shout about.

They finally added some missions that are run from and related to the yacht so that finally has at least some benefit to the game.
However, there are only six missions tied to the yacht and if you complete all of them this week during the double money event, you'll net somewhere close to $100,000 which kinda makes spending 6 Million+ on the yacht a bit wasteful.
Mitigated somewhat by the yacht being something like 30% off this week. (So yeah, I bought one.)

However, there are some really beneficial, quality of life updates added as well. The two biggest ones are:

1. A timer showing how long you've got before you can spin the wheel again
2. You can now return any vehicle directly to storage from the Vehicles menu

Both of these are things I've been wanting for a long time now so I'm happy they finally got added.

I've finally started plowing through the storyline. Got through the first heist, which was pretty awesome, and then... it switched to Trevor. Yikes.

Anyone still doing multiplayer on this? I might be down for doing some heists or something, I'm not really sure how that whole thing works.

Our regular group still plays a bit of GTA now and then. Mostly when there's new content (such as the summer update which released yesterday) and my wife and I have been playing together as well. She's done a couple of the heists but still has quite a few more to do.

We would be willing to join you for some heists and maybe we could get a fourth to join us. My schedule is pretty open since I'm currently unemployed so let me know what day/time works for you and we'll see what we can put together.

Oh, and Trevor.... yeah.

I would label him as least favorite but most interesting.

Really, by the end, the only character that's even remotely redeemable is Franklin but given his continued poor decisions, I wouldn't hold out much hope. If he could cut Lamar out of his life, maybe.

They're all terrible people. Michael is evil with a veneer of civility. Franklin starts off as a semi-decent guy, but by the end he's a likeable guy who kills hundreds of human beings for profit. Trevor, on the other hand, is pure. He is what he appears to be. You know what you're getting when you see Trevor's boot heel headed your way.

I do love the way they created the three characters to match the three broad playstyles of GTA players. Michael, the guy who follows the scripted story, all plans and reason. Franklin, the guy who just likes to drive and enjoy the sights. Trevor, the guy who loves a rampage: mayhem, disarray.

Trevor's interaction with "NPCs" is still pretty unpleasant to watch, but I'm actually kind of liking getting a kick out of his interaction with Michael so far, he's pretty good at putting him in his place.

It's funny, when I first played GTA (especially the original), I didn't even realize there was a story. I honestly thought the whole point of the game was to find as many rocket launchers and machineguns as you could, then hole up somewhere and murder people until the cops came and killed you. That was like 25 years ago, though.

My wife's PC is running a GTX 680 GPU with a i7 and runs it perfectly fine.
An I9 with a GTX 2080TI, 32 GB of RAM running from an SSD.

That's what makes it so frustrating.

Yeah, that should not present a problem.
All drivers and windows updates installed, I assume?

Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. Many moons ago I had a PC built and whatever game I was playing to test the setup was running like a slideshow. After troubleshooting drivers and settings in Windows, somehow we figured out that it was a BIOS issue. I wish I could remember specifics and I'd be amazed if this was a problem on a modern PC (i think my issue has to be 15+ years old at this point), but sure enough some setting was changed and everything was fine. I want to say it was related to the PCI-E slot I was using. Like the card wanted to be in a certain slot but I had it in another one. Maybe not entirely helpful but possibly something to run down?
Maybe next year, maybe no go

Yep, all drivers and updates are installed.

I'll see if I can find anything on that, Smoove. Every other game I have runs fine so I don't *think* it's a hardware problem, but you never know.

New heist incoming...

It’s time to raise the stakes higher than ever before. You’ve broken a convicted spy out of Bolingbroke Penitentiary. You’ve saved the world from an egomaniacal tech billionaire. And you’ve beaten the odds to drain a casino of its cash. This time, you’re taking on an entire island.
Prepare to infiltrate the remote island compound of the world’s most notorious drug dealer in Grand Theft Auto Online’s biggest, most daring, and action-packed addition yet: The Cayo Perico Heist.

It’s up to you to find a way to breach Cayo Perico, one of the most secure private islands in the entire world, evade or neutralize the heavily armed security forces stationed there, and escape with valuable evidence along with as much art, gold and drug money as you can carry.

Choose your tools. Choose your approach. Choose your crew – or even go it entirely alone. Just make it back to Los Santos in one piece.

The Cayo Perico Heist is the biggest GTA Online adventure ever, introducing an all-new exotic Heist location, with a brand-new approach to Heist design that features the ability to play everything solo or with up to three other players. Plus you can acquire new vehicles and tactical weapons, experience new social spaces to dance and party in with your friends, and new world-class guest DJs, and listen to new radio stations with over 100 new songs. Oh, and a very large, very versatile, and very heavily armed submarine HQ with plenty of other surprises.

Somehow, I was hoping they'd tie it into RDR2 by setting it on the island of Guarma. In RDR2, one of the chapters takes place on a Carribean island, and I think it would have been a really cool way to have this also set there and give it a historical link.

Well, during character creation for the online game you can choose John Marsten as one of your ancestors so there's already a link there but yeah, visiting Guarma would have been cool but I think they are keeping things local(ish) to the San Andreas area.
