Thanks for the heads-up. I redeemed my key, and preloaded overnight without issue. I may not get much of a chance to play until the weekend, but at least I'm ready.

I think I'll hold off these and just be surprised when I start playing. It's one of the things that draws me to these types of games, the "oh wow" factor the first time you see something.Max Peck wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 6:04 am If anyone is interested in seeing some gameplay, there are a bunch of early access Borderlands 3 streams up on Twitch now.

Anyone else collecting the various email, vault, etc codes for the Borderlands rewards page? I've been doing some work to unlock some various guns and other rewards for the game. If anyone needs codes or help, just ask.

Re: Borderlands 3
Good info! There is also a Discord channel hosted by a guy who has been collecting codes, he had 77 as of last night. I copied them and have them in spoiler tags. The ones with "??" before the entry didn't work for me, they may be expired. It might be easier to start at the bottom and work up, as I've started at the top and worked down. Also a lot of the codes labeled "Vault" don't seem to be working for me, especially the ones prefixed with "VIP-", but all the "Email" ones have worked.

I was wondering about that. Aside from the initial handshake to validate that the game is unlocked, is a continuous internet connection necessary?

I've no idea. My concern would be gazillions of people trying to download all at once, while a gazillion others try to 'handshake' at the same time.

I'm not too worried. If Epic can keep their Fortnite servers up with over 10 million concurrent users, they should be able to manage the download and authentication traffic for a major game launch.
They are, of course, welcome to prove me wrong later tonight.

I figure they've thought it through, but then again they're untested. I've seen Steam go down on big releases(although not for quite a while), and Blizzard goes down like clockwork when new content is released.

Re: Borderlands 3
Got through the first area and some really good little improvements so far, but scary it took them 4 games to add them.
- You get your first skill at level 2 instead of 5
- Option for everyone to get instanced loot
- Auto looting of ammo when you open chests
- Item power rating system
- Fog of war on the map so you can see where you've explored
Of course to keep things balanced, the cut scenes are still unskippable.
Gunplay feels really good though, and each of the classes seems unique and interesting. Went with the gunner because: mech.

Have you finished it yet?
Do you mean everyone just sees their own loot? So no ninja looting?Option for everyone to get instanced loot

I just hit PRTSCR and pasted the screenshot from the clipboard. I don't know if there is an in-game screenshot function.
Edit: I just noticed that if you hit ESC, there is a photo mode menu option that lets you take a fancy screenshot with a bunch of camera controls.

There are two modes for group play, Cooperation and Coopetition. In Cooperation mode loot is instanced for each player and the game is level-balanced so that you can play with anyone, regardless of level.

The exact same thing happened to me... had to play through it all again.
And then, after a bit, I decided I didn't like my class and wanted to play a different. So had to sit through it AGAIN. It's playing in the background now as I post this.
Feels a little sluggish, but otherwise, seems fine. I'm tired though so won't be playing too long tonight.

had my first crash, but i think it's related to my system not the game. Been having issues for a while. Getting 25 fps on my brother's radeon 290. A loaner card until I figure out which card I want to get. I was hoping to wait till black Friday. Thought I had my crashing under control but it came back tonight

Re: Borderlands 3
I started about 2.5 hours after launch and played about an hour. Very much enjoying the gameplay because, heck, it's Borderlands! No issues except I pressed F1 during the intro and it wandered off on some strange screen with no way to get back, like ESC, till I had to do my first button push. No biggie.
I notice that the difficulty levels are Normal and Easier . I'm playing on Normal for now but it is nice I can change it at any time. I'm starting out with Zane because I'm more of a gadgets guy.
I wish Epic had the screenshot functions like Steam, so I could collect and post without having to go through more steps.
And I wish Ubisoft would take a lesson from this. I liked Watch Dogs 2, so what does Ubisoft do? For the next game in the series they pretty much are reinventing the gameplay. I liked Ghost Recon Wildlands but Ubisoft decided to mess that formula up too. So far in BL3 I haven't seen anything that is a step back or something way too different from the BL2/Prequel gameplay, as least as I remember it.
On the PC the game defaulted to Low graphics. I switched to Medium and I'm getting a solid 60 FPS, which is fine with me; I set that as my FPS limit.

Yeah, really enjoying it. A million little improvements that make it fun to play.
I'm loving the gunner's skill tree so far. She basically has a titan she can call in, but you can chose from different weapons to equip it with and unlock more as you move up the skill trees. I'm using a minigun and a flamethrower at the moment, but so far there's also a railgun and a grenade launcher.

Re: Borderlands 3
Brian, BadDemo, BD's husband, and I put in probably two and a half or three hours tonight in cooperative. We just finished a playthrough of 1 and a double playthrough of 2 in the past few months, so the cooperative experience is fresh in our minds. There are so many little improvements it's hard to keep track. Auto pickup of money and ammo, whether in boxes or as drops (BL2 it was only from drops), a 'buy all ammo' button, the fact that four players can spawn four separate vehicles, the way many of the characters' powers have interactive elements (a mountable turret on Moze's mech, buffs from Zane's shield.)
Visually, it is clean and fresh, but still looks 100% like Borderlands. They did a good enough job that I can look at any scene and it stands out how much better it looks, but I can't pick out specific elements that I can say, "that looks different." It's the same, but somehow much better.
There are so, so many options. Resolution scaling, separate vertical and horizontal sensitivity, audio sliders for different elements, what looked like configurable subtitles, a built-in benchmark. You know, all the stuff PC games really need. And it felt good. It was smooth and responsive on my system, no hiccups, no floaty mouse.
That's the first couple of hours. I can't promise it won't turn awful ten hours in, but so far I'm really happy with it.
FYI, I sent out Epic friend invites to everyone on my friends list. Blachkawk3339

After a couple of hours I am underwhelmed. Yes it is very much more Borderlands and also it's very much Borderlands. I am not sure what I was expecting, but it is not grabbing me like I had hoped. I'll keep playing and see if it picks up for me but my excitement has been considerably dampened.

How exactly does this work? You see different enemy levels than your coop partners? Which changes what, exactly - how much health they have? How much damage you do?

Re: Borderlands 3
Easier to go the other way, scale the players. There is a damage and health curve and they just slide you up/down the curve. I know nothing about what they actually did, but that's what I imagine as a software developer/architect/designer. The real answer may as well be magic in that as long as it works it doesn't really matter.Ralph-Wiggum wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2019 10:25 amHow exactly does this work?
