An analysis of the exit polls

Post by Defiant »

Here are CNN's exit polls.
  • Bush won every population group except the 18-29 year olds. It's no wonder he won.
  • Republicans voted in equal number as democrats.
  • Kerry won the independents by a narrow margin.
  • Kerry won the new voters.
  • Kerry managed to get 90% of Gore's voters. Bush managed to get 90% of his 2000 voters. But, get this: there was higher turnout among those who voted Bush in 2000 than voted Gore in 2000.
  • People thought of Kerry as the more negative candidate.
  • Bush won the Catholic vote by a narrow margin
  • Bush won about 92% of his 2000 GLB vote.
  • Kerry won the undecideds, but not by a large margin.
  • Bush won the voters who support civil unions by a narrow margin.
  • Kerry won those who thought the "OSAMA BIN LADEN VIDEOTAPE" was important. Oddly, though, there's a comparison to 2000(!?)
  • Kerry won those who were very worried about terrorism
  • Bush won on two issues: Terrorism and Moral Values.

Presumably, they aren't one issue voters.

Something else I spotted:If it were a two-man race, some of Bush's supporter's would have voted for Kerry and some of Kerry's supporters would have voted for Bush. WTF?

Nearly all of Nader's voters would have stayed home.
