But Rip promised Trump's behavior as a private citizen would TOTALLY change once he was working for America, not himself.

Re: The Trump Presidency Thread
My friend in Germany asked me today - how did Trump respond to Germany legalizing same-sex marriage? Like, what was the official U.S. response, how did they cover it from the White House, that sort of thing?
I had to laugh...and then explain to him that Trump was too busy waging a Twitter war against a morning-show host to pay attention to some silly little vote in Germany.

Some people believe that he's playing a game of chess, but the reality is that he's playing checkers.

A constant, continual embarrassment to both the office and the country.
Equally as embarrassing are the hordes who continually cheer this behavior on because it (somehow) indicates that Trump is "fighting back" against the big, bad media.
Utterly pathetic, every single one of them.

Obviously we can only speculate about what the investigation knows and is looking into, but it's hard not to notice that this is some of the kind of info that Russian hackers were after on the voter-role side of their operation. And this is also stuff that was spilled when the GOP-aligned consulting firm accidentally (or "accidentally") spilled its info on 200 million voters a few days back.
Having all this data out in the wild could complicate attempts to trace what the Russians and the Trumpkins had when and had together.

Worse than pathetic; they are unmoored from reality. I doubt that they can be deprogrammed, not as long as they have alt-media to reinforce their alt-reality. And their media will persist for as long as its audience does. Hard to see how you can ever break that loop and bring them back to actual reality.Skinypupy wrote:

Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States.“At some point in the future, we’re going to look back and say, ‘How did we do it without space?’”
“We know what this is, space. That’s all it has to say: space,” Trump said as he prepared to sign his executive order. He then turned to Aldrin and asked, “There’s a lot of room out there, right?”
“This is infinity here. It could be infinity. We don’t really don’t know. But it could be. It has to be something — but it could be infinity, right?”

Wait--so he's saying his attacks on CNN are fake like wrestling is fake? Does he believe wrestling is real? How do you tweet an anti-Fake wrestling meme that makes any sense whatsoever?
It's cool that he thinks the leader assaulting the press is the way to celebrate July 4, though. That's MODERN DAY PRESIDENTIAL, people! George Washington can suck it!

I think this week's twitter has been 100% theater. His handlers know keeping the focus on his outrageous output is a way to keep the news off real stories like Russia, Health Care, and the Voter Suppression Commission.
Trump might not know this is what he's doing, but you can be sure Bannon does.

Re: The Trump Presidency Thread
Read a Carl Sagan quote today (from his 1995 book "The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark") that is particularly apt and/or prophetic for the current situation:
I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time — when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness.
