They even put Melania and the pool boy from Mar-a-Lago on kiss cam. Donnie just smooched a photoshopped Time magazine with his photo on it when they got around to him.

It's a special kind of pathetic that this President, who has avoided these types of public appearances for the most part (sticking to his controlled rally environments), suddenly does three sporting events in a short period as he shops for a venue where his feelings won't get hurt by the meanies in the crowd.
That's my purse! I don't know you!

This was pretty standard PR management. The boo-ing at the Nats game pierced the usual narrative that he is adored where he goes so he needed a headline where he was cheered. Sure it is pathetic but this is how he manages his reputation since ultimately that is what the media will track on in their horse race coverage and what the perception is to his 'base'. Especially since the 2nd instance was a MMA fight which the media decided should have been his people (discounting it was in 'NY' - duh). However, he religiously follows media coverage so he set up the sweetheart visit and got the headline he wanted.

It is pretty easy to predict what he'll do. Just think 'What is the negative item dejure in the news?' And somewhere, somehow, someone will cook up a direct action to undermine that story so he can yell 'fake news'.

To put that in perspective, Obama Democrats lost 88 house seats in the red wave election, so it's not a huge difference. What IS different is the proportion of Republicans who left of their own accord rather than being defeated at the ballot box. Democrats were swept out; Republicans stampeded.

Meanwhile crowds in NY yelled 'lock him up' during the Veteran's Day parade. I don't think any modern President has faced such withering hate - especially from their home town. I hope it is eating him up alive. We'll see what he will do to soothe this new injury.

Confirm he's attending Russian military parade as a special honored guest. At first he'll be happy to be the center of attention. But then he'll be jealous over his inability to have tanks rolling down Pennsylvania avenue. That's why Putin is so damn smart. Having Trump attend that parade works on multiple levels.

I hear "or something." There's definitely something before "something" and after "all".

But a simple gaffe during a speech is kind of a non-issue. It is well known he's dumb, he doesn't give a shit about veterans and he rather be golfing or carousing than paying them trubute. This hiccup doesn't reveal anything new.

You don't hear it and you don't see his lips form a 'that's'. I've been looking for the clip in context because I don't even care about what he said. It is *how* he said it. This is one of those occasions where it looks like his brain is melting. He is slurring. His focus is not there. It's only 10 seconds so I don't know if this is representative but he looks *bad* here.

That clip is much clearer and in context he looks and sounds fine like his usual dopey self - not brain melting slurring. I think he does say 'That's something'. He just stepped back at the time enough that the mike lost the 'That's'.

How about we elect a President with enough grasp of elementary-level language and civility that his handlers don't have to explain everything he says afterward. That would be nice.

At least W. Bush had a bit of folksy charm to go with his inability to speak. Trump just sounds like a drooling idiot.

Saying "that's something" isn't great, but it's a far cry from the manufactured outrage the tweet Daveman provided represents.

As a father of two boys who aren't that far beyond the second grade, I find that comment rather hurtful. I am certain my kids were much more coherent in the second grade. I guess maybe if they were given a topic they had not interest in (you know, like when Trump has to talk about anything other than himself), they might fall apart.

When I google "Trump speech grade level" multiple results say that he speaks on a 4th grade level, and that he's equivalent to an 8-year-old. That's a little more advanced than I gave him credit for.

White House: Trump undergoes exam at Walter Reed
President Donald Trump spent more than two hours at Walter Reed National Medical Center on Saturday for what the White House said were medical tests as part of his annual physical.

The appointment wasn’t on Trump’s weekend public schedule, and his last physical was in February. Press secretary Stephanie Grisham said the 73-year-old president was “anticipating a very busy 2020” and wanted to take advantage of “a free weekend” in Washington to begin portions of his routine checkup.

She did not specify which tests he’d received or explain why the visit had not been disclosed in advance. Trump’s 2018 and 2019 physicals were both announced ahead of time and appeared on his public schedule.

Grisham said after the visit that the president had had “a quick exam and labs” and assured he remains in good health.

I don't know. If things work out, he could collapse the Republican party and cause a blue wave, along with setting up reforms to prevent another Trump in the future. He could be the best thing that ever happened to the US. I'd hate for him to croak and have a popular Republican step in and prevent all that.

But if things don't work out, he could be the final nail in our coffin. If that's the case, croak away.

Heh, you guys give him less credit than I did. I peg him at 4th grade but at 9 year olds 4th grade. That had long since been my opinion. 9 is a magic developmental hell age. The first step of leaving childhood. His language and attitudes and behaviors and comprehension and attention really reflect that.

Rating Trump's verbal/mental age doesn't really tell us anything.

What's central is that he has a narcissist's relation to language. Truth and falsity don't even register for him. All that matters is what makes him feel superior and allows him to dominate others.

The Root
Pick one: Donald Trump was rushed to the hospital to visit a sick child because he is such a caring person... Or Donald Trump is the only president in history to break their physical examinations into two parts… Or Donald Trump and the White House staff is lying.

Only one of those makes sense.
...
While speculating on medical issues is an ill-advised practice, The Root has spoken with several medical professionals who offered a number of diagnoses, including:
  • Mitch McConnellitis: An infection caused by the Senate Majority Leader’s head being stuck up Trump’s ass.
  • Copping Tunnel Syndrome: A common condition caused by repeatedly grabbing women by the … let’s just call it “copping a feel.”
  • Lie-abetes: Most people don’t know that excessive bullshitting can damage the bullshituitary gland, which secretes the hormone that causes pathological lying.
  • Gonorrhea: I mean, he does like to have unprotected sex with porn stars.
  • Russian Influence-za: An STD caused by fellating a Russian dictator. There are only two known cures. An experimental drug called “Kremlinsulin” and a more traditional medical procedure called “impeaching the motherfucker.”
  • A wypipodectomy: A non-invasive procedure that removes the “racist bone” Trump insists that he doesn’t have.
While the impromptu medical visit reportedly took two hours, sources say that 45 minutes was spent in the hospital waiting room as the president read knock-knock jokes and staged a valiant but unsuccessful attempt at connecting the dots in the latest issue of Highlights magazine.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

My super stoopid conspiracy theory is:
This was the 1st step in a ruse that will see him leave office due to medical issues......

That way he isn't impeached, sent to jail etc etc (yet) and can leave with dignity.
While feeding all the beasties out back I let a nice big fart. The smell followed all the way back to the house. It's like it was my baby and felt abandoned.
