Once it clears and is 100% in the account, I think I'll use it to pay off part of my credit card balance and then hold it as 'off limits' for a year. If they ask for it back, I'll pay it back, but until then it'll mean lower fees.

If they direct-deposited, they can direct-withdraw. Your caution is appropriate. Most likely your bank will only process it once.

They generally only do that if other means of requesting it back have failed. And it didn't show up as the same deposit three times, it showed up as three separate deposits. My guess: In 2020, Michelle's ex-husband and she claimed the kids on their taxes together, but the kids lived with me. I'm guessing that both he and I both got credit for the kids ((IE - he got two checks for them and I also got two checks for them.)

I know they adjusted my refund based on my 2020 taxes. Not buy much but then initial my payment wasn't much either. TurboTax did the math for me, so the amount and the math that made it happen were magic.

Just a thought, but in the future when filing your returns, you might not want to write "none of your fucking business" in the space for SSN.

So I've spent a frustrating hour and a half trying to get someone, anyone, at the IRS to answer a phone and they aren't having any of that. I either get the electronic run-around or "due to the high call volume" politely fuck off message.

Really, if I could just get somebody to acknowledge whether or not my returns have even been received I would be able to relax a little. They were mailed out nearly seven weeks ago so you'd think I could at least get a confirmation as to whether or not they have been received.

I've also tried contacting the revenue departments for Arizona and Nebraska with similar results.

Since this is looking like a slow work day, I might drive down to the revenue office and see if I can get somebody to talk to me.

Do you have the new "passport" type of driver's license or he olde fashioned kind? I think some time this year you have to have the new fully satisfied type to be able to enter federal buildings.

Real ID. It's October 1, 2021. Pushed back from 10/1/2020 due to COVID.

I did end up driving down to the NE Revenue office. In less than five minutes I was able to get a confirmation that my filing had been received and was being processed but would likely not see a refund being posted until June.

She said that Fed and Arizona would likely be about the same time.

Don't know why it's so difficult to make this information available via their online portal but at least now I can breathe a little easier knowing that it's not out in the void somewhere.

I have the new type with the star. We got them with our new NE driver's licenses when we moved back to NE.
Our AZ licenses were the old style.

Speaking of which, I should probably get some Nebraska plates on my car soon but, I paid for the three year plates in AZ and I'm gonna get as much use out of them as possible.

The IRS is jammed with filings and the inquiries/rollout on stimulus checks. The individual tax return extension to 5/17 was for their convenience not any taxpayers.

I had to get mine renewed last year, and when the DMV finally opened, the location in Plano (which never had a line!) not only moved, but had a line about a block long. So I renewed online and got the plain old DL, no fancy frame. Would I still need it with a current passport?

My wife is really itching to go to the Philippines, but I don't think that will happen until I find a job. Kids still don't have passports (son has one, but it's expired), but until we have firm plans to go, no point getting them. Not sure if Canada is letting Americans in yet, if and when they do, we might be interested in a road trip to Niagara Falls, in which case we'll all need passports.

2nd Stimulus: (Still) Supposedly getting it in my Tax Refund
3rd Stimulus: "Payment Status - Not Available"

Federal Tax Return: "We cannot provide any information about your refund"

Arizona Tax Return: Direct Deposited into checking today!! Woo!
---It's progress anyway.

Nebraska Tax Return: "Your paper return has been received. Please allow up to 3 months for your return to be processed. Next year file electronically and receive your refund sooner."
---Wow. Ok. No need to get passive aggressive on me. I tried filing electronically but the Feds refused it and if they refuse it, you won't accept it either.

I got that a few days ago. My initial reaction to a letter from the IRS is probably not what they were going for.

This thread reminds me that our CPA still hasn't filed out personal returns, and I ought to nag him about that.

Nope. However, we did move back to Nebraska from Arizona in October so had to file in both states but we've received both of our state returns.

This year and last year the IRS did not allow us to file electronically due to, according to them, our Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) not matching the IRS e-file database even though I pulled that number directly from the previous year's return in both cases.

So, we had to file a paper return via mail.

Also, due to the whole AGI issue, our 2018 and 2019 returns were mailed so the IRS claims not to have our banking information so they can't electronically deposit our stimulus.
Which is a crock of shit since the banking information is still included on the paper forms.

Since repeated calls to the IRS helpline go unanswered, I continue to wait.

2nd Stimulus: (Still) Supposedly getting it in my Tax Refund
3rd Stimulus: "Payment Status - Not Available"

---

I called the number (again) listed on the IRS page for assistance but (again) only got an automated system that allows me to enter all of my information only for it to give me the electronic equivalent of shrugging it's shoulders and saying, "fuck if I know."

It did go on to suggest I could make an appointment with a local agent so I may just have to give that a try.
