I just wanted to say that it's been nice being back here. It's nice knowing that most of you knuckleheads are still kicking around and getting in trouble. I dunno, it's just good to see.

It's good to see you. I came back after the Gaming Trend forum crash. It is good that some of the old crowd is still rolling along. I will caution don't go down the rabbit hole of looking for old posters who aren't still here. It's just depressing down there.

I'll add my thanks to all those still posting.

I thought this was going to be about the tv show, which I just finished re-watching last week. But I guess the people on this forum are also worth appreciating...

They're both similar in that I can't count the reasons I should stay... One by one they all just fade away. :)

I don't know where I'd be if it weren't for the people here. Quite possibly ten years homeless.

I've generally not engaged with the community too deeply outside of the forum, but this is the first place I come beyond a couple close friends/family members when I have a serious question, something cool to share, or just need to vent. I know there will always be an insightful, interesting, and sincere response. And as has been discussed, these kinds of self-contained online communities, especially with this volume of history, are rare these days. OO is honestly a major social tether for me.

So yeah, thank you.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

I've been a part of lots of online communities (as we all have), but never have any particular affinity towards them. They're just a place to chat about different things. There was a little bit of a sting when GT crashed and burned, but it had been heading that way for a while.

I'd be crushed if OO disappeared.

I also have an appreciation for OO. While I don't post often, I do check OO every day. I like it here even though the crowd seems to be much more liberal than I. At least a decent conversation can be had here, unlike a lot of places on the internet.

For a long time I stopped posting here and only posted on gamingtrend. Then when they did their forum overhaul (a couple of years ago) I left there and started just posting here. There are plenty of new faces, but there's also still a lot of people from the GG days.

I am about the age now that dbt would have been at the time I joined GG. That's a funny thing to consider. Also I am pretty sure it means dbt was young then!

I've got mine as well. What I wouldn't give to see Hell's Taco back here again. And Mr. Fed. And a lot of others, but especially those two.

Our community is over 20 years old? This is the sort of factoid that makes me feel both awe and an uncomfortable awareness of my mortality.

I used to see BrettMcD (at least I think it is the same guy) at another site I will not mention. It amazes me he stays there the way he is treated, but I guess some people can get comfortable almost anywhere.

I don't remember what brought me here, probably something about a game, or actually I think someone from here mentioned it on a Baldurs Gate forum someplace.

Certainly appreciate this little hole-in-the-wall of the internet. It's hard to believe that I've now been posting with this community in one form or another for more than half my life.

And also hard to believe that the last time I saw Rich Laporte was a decade and a half ago.

While the forum may be smaller than it's ever been, we have a good group here and I hope we make it another couple of decades.

I know I've only met two of you in person (Default and MHS), but somehow this site has become my preferred version of social media: a place to post, vent, skim, pontificate, and let my hair down. I've been here since discovering it in the wake of Gone Gold's retirement.

It's pretty difficult to make new friends in adulthood, but I feel I just keep getting to know some of you better and better.

Apologies for all the times I've been a know-it-all or ridden a high horse. I'm actually a pretty nice guy. And I've learned a lot here.

I’ve met a few of you and you’re alright people. I think I almost choked to death in front of NoxiousDog, and was it Kelric? Good times. Well, times.
