Dick Hoyt, who pushed son in multiple Boston Marathons, dies
Dick Hoyt, who inspired thousands of runners, fathers and disabled athletes by pushing his son, Rick, in a wheelchair in dozens of Boston Marathons and hundreds of other races, has died, a member of the family said Wednesday.

He was 80.

Dick passed away quietly in his sleep at his Holland, Massachusetts, home on Wednesday morning, Russ Hoyt, another of his sons, told The Associated Press.

“He had an ongoing heart condition that he had been struggling with for years and it just got the better of him,” Russ Hoyt said.

I'll be honest, Dick inspired me to run my first marathon and start triathlons.

The book about Dick and Rick, "It's only a mountain", is great inspiration. Youtube some documentaries about Dick and Rick.

Kent Taylor, Texas Roadhouse founder and CEO, dies at 65
The statement said Taylor died by suicide after a battle with Covid-19-related symptoms, including severe tinnitus, or ringing in the ear, and his suffering had increased in recent days.

Taylor had funded a clinical study to help members of the military suffering with tinnitus, the statement said.

This crushes me. Watching him push his son, the look of utter joy and excitement on his face as he felt the wind blowing, watching him swim, pulling his son in a raft behind him like a human tugboat, then carrying him to the custom-made bicycle with a front-mounted seat to bike the final leg of the Iron-damn-Man triathlon is simply awe-inspiring. If you can watch that with dry eyes there is something broken inside you.

Elgin Baylor, the human triple double machine, passes away at 86. He was the real deal.
Baylor was drafted by the Lakers in 1958 where he would play 14 seasons. He was an 11-time All-Star and was selected to the All-NBA first-team 10 times. He earned Rookie of the Year honors in 1959. His No. 22 jersey was retired by the Lakers in 1983.

I remember watching him and the Lakers play back in my teens. Dad didn't like him because he thought he was a glory hound.

I also was unaware of his non-acting persona. He was a very recognizable actor. I think he was a bit type-cast, but I generally enjoyed his characters. A quick perusal of IMDB reminded me that he was the boss in Just Shoot Me. I saw a lot more of that show than the more recent stuff. RIP

Damn it, Archer is going to suffer immensely from this. She’s so perfect as Mallory Archer.

I was discussing this with Brian last night. They could work with it.

1. Woodhouse is gone.
2. Now Mallory is gone. Archer has not parental figures left.
3. With Mallory gone, Cyril is put in charge.
4. Archer goes off the deep end.
5. Hilarity ensues.

I'm not so sure about your take. I have to say that in the last season or so, I've completely gotten over Lana and Cyril. I really don't enjoy most of their scenes. They've just become annoying.

Some of that is just setting fatigue. They created some hilarious personalities and tropes, but there are only so many ways to mix and match them, and they've been at it for 11 seasons. Comedy shows usually have an expiration date unless they change things up dramatically.

Definitely was a great author and wrote for kids. One of my wife’s favorites.

G Gordon Liddy is dead. How come the evil cronies seem to live so long? Is it the power of a black heart or something?

And I would not exactly call him a “mastermind” since he got caught. How about convict? Felon?

The veteran actress passed away Saturday, just one day after her 98th birthday ... this according to her daughter, Erin Ellwood, who broke the sad news on Instagram. After posting some celebratory shots of her mother's milestone year, she said she'd died the next day.

Ah damn it, the absolutely fantastic Helen McCrory has died. She was fantastic as Aunt Polly, the matriarch of the Shelby family in Peaky Blinders. Her husband is the equally great Damian Lewis, who I honestly thought was American up until only a few years ago due to how many shows he plays one in I've seen over the years.

RIP to an amazing actress.
