Pre-Thanksgiving Dallas Lunch GTG

Post by Isgrimnur »

Initial thoughts:

Tuesday, 11/18. Far enough out to avoid Turkey Day issues.

In - what time works best? I already blocked 11-2 on my schedule so nobody can send me a meeting I can't turn down.

11:30 seemed to work pretty well last time. Gives you a 30 minute buffer to kick off the work responsibilities and get out the door and travel time. And we wound up spending two hours there, so we may just take all of that time. :)

That's why they are "initial thoughts." Would the 18th work better for you?

Yeah . . . any day but the 19th is the same to me. I'm single, so Thanksgiving is even an option. ;)

Okay, looks like we have the 18th as a solid date, assuming Cylus can change his calendar. I'll change the OP, again, still initial thoughts. If you know anyone else in the area, feel free to drag them in here. I still expect to hear from godhugh.

18th is fine too - I have a 1100 meeting that I can probably skip or send a proxy to.

I can make that day as long as lunch doesn't turn into an all day affair. There's a 2pm meeting I HAVE to be at.

Last time, we ran about 2 hours (1/2 hour waiting on someone ;) ) 1.5 hours should be good. And we certainly won't cling to your ankles to stop you from leaving.

Looks like we're at 7 for tomorrow. Speak now or wait for my attempt at a mid-December one to collapse.

Lies. You already said last call, you can't make another call after last call.

See ya tomorrow.

I guess it's a good thing I never became a bartender. The TABC would have had a field day with me. :)

It was more with the understanding that someone might have had a last minute conflict than a call for more.

Lunch came off well with the only disappointment being Kraegor's attire not being as advertised. It was nice to see faces to put with some of the names I see daily. Maybe now I can keep some of them straight. :) Thanks to everyone.

Much gaming discussion was had, ranging across WoW, Fallout, NFS, CoD, and even some retro gaming. The RB drummers were well represenented by Fretmute and godhugh.

I will definitely be looking for a December one as well. We'll see if we can't get GungHo in on the action (how far out do you know your schedule?) and perform a GT outreach program. I'd love to see these get to the point where we storm a restaurant and take the whole place over (or at least a party room).

Initial thoughts for December are Wednesday, 12/17.

Sounds like it was fun....bummed I missed it. I *usually* know my schedule about 2 months ahead of time, but we've been having a bit of upheaval(sp?) in the department lately, so that's been cut down to, oh, about 2 weeks. :( However, if yall are planning on doing a December meet, I do know my schedule thru New Year's Day. I will say that Mondays are usually pretty good days for me to try and do lunch(key word: usually :) ).

But please, dont schedule anything around me. Even adjusting the timeline by 30 minutes for my sake, would raise expectations far beyond what Im capable of producing.

EDIT: failed teh reading comprehension and didnt note this before, but I cant do the 17th, fwiw. But like I said, please dont do anything on my account, my fragile psyche couldnt handle it.

Maybe we could try to schedule an evening thing so folks could have a beer or two if they wanted (not that it stops me, being unemployed and all ;)).

I'd be up for the evening thing, but I imagine that runs into similar familial issues that weekend GTGs do.

GungHo, throw us some dates that you might be available. I'd love to get you in on it. And it seems like most of us are 9-5ers.
