Help my Cat Sanctuary win $100K

Post by Crabbs »

MODS, if this an inappropriate post, please remove. Slight Pimping of my Non-Profit - Froggie's Pond incoming :)

As some of you might remember (or not), My wife and I formed a Non-Profit 501(3)(c) in 2007. It is a No-Kill sanctuary for cats that have Feline Leukemia (FeLV) +/- Feline AIDS (FIV). We have grown to around 15 resident cats which have a combination of either disease. We have done quite well with our fund-raising efforts and just had a successful yard sale that will pay our bills for another 10-12 months. Here are a couple links to PDF's of our Sanctuary brochures telling our story and talking about some of our cats.

2007 Froggie's Story PDF ~8meg

2008 Froggie's Pond Update PDF ~3meg

The jist of this post is to see if the OO Hive can help my shelter garner some more funding. Petfinder.com is running a $100K Shelter Challenge. The National shelter with the most votes as of December 2008 wins the Grand Prize, there are also smaller prizes for state winners and random drawings.

I'm asking you to help us with this 'Popularity Contest.' If you don't want to help Froggie's Pond out, well then toss your vote behind your local Animal Rescue group.

Here's how you can vote for Froggie's Pond :

No need to register on the site or anything just

1) Go to http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clic ... e_sidetabs
2) Select MI in the State Drop down box.
3) Enter Battle Creek in the City Box
4) Press Search
5) Vote for Froggie's Pond once the next page comes up
6) Confirm your vote by tying the name of the animal in the 'captcha'
7) Repeat every 24 hours if desired :)

The Cats and I really thank you for your time and help.

Again if this pimping is inapropriate, please remove this post as the Moderators see fit. Thanks

Ben (aka Crabbs) & Sara & the Felines

Edit: Grammar & corrected pdf URL (thanks LawBeef)

Done.

And since you're just asking for votes, I don't see a problem with it. Nevermind being a 501(3)c.

Also, you might want to edit that first PDF link. There's an extra http:// in it.

You have my vote. Best of luck to you and your wife (and Froggie's Pond), and kudos for the noble work you're doing.

My childhood cat died from FIV (good long run, though) so hats of to you for the sanctuary. I'll be voting daily if I can remember.

I also really like the name due to my memory of a Three's Company episode in which Mr. Furley suggests "Froggie's" as the name for Jack's restaurant.

I was happy to vote for you all, thanks for sharing this with us. I helped take care of an abandoned FIV kitty in grad school and so I know what sort of commitment you all are making, major props to you and your wife.

Rank 2172? Ouch.

I voted, and I'll do it again. Our 10-year-old FIV cat is seeing the vet tomorrow morning because he's acting sick.

Yeah nationally that stinks, but in the state we are hoping to make the top 10. Then we still get some $$$. I'm not kidding myself that the 100K is within reach, but some of the local awards might be :)

Thanks again to everyone voting.

Hope your kitty gets a good check-up, as always feel free to PM with any questions.

I have 4 patients I'm actively treating with Acupuncture.

2 for back and hip problems, well controlled with Acupuncture (have reduced pain meds by 75% since starting treatment)
1 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel for Neck problems, he's done very well, He's only coming in for rechecks every 3 months now.
1 Nasal/Sinus cancer (The owner is a Holistic Freak) being treated with Acupuncture and Herbal treatment. This dog is having an MRI done Friday, so we'll see if the tumor is smaller.

1 Dog I treated for leg spasms for did well for 3 months, but now spasms are back and not responding. Referred to Neurologist.
1 Dog treated for Hip Arthritis, DId well for a couple days, but owners don't have the finances to continue.
Couple of cats treated for Kidney disease with no noted improvement.

Overall Mixed bag. I'm convinced it works well for Pain/Arthritis but as a primary treatment for other medical conditions not so much (at least in my hands)

Again thanks all for the votes.
