At this point the Red Sox and Yankees are seemingly competing to decline invitations to the postseason. Last night the Red Sox gave up 3 unearned runs and then lost 5-4.

Even though it went in the Angels favor, this is one of the worst call reversals I have seen. The pitcher caught the ball, and as he was rolling on the ground the ball dribbled out. Call on the field was out, reversed to safe. :doh:

I agree with the call. He never had control of the ball. So ya I've seen much much much worse.

I disagree with your agreement. It was a catch, not wobbling around in his glove. Outfielders have made similar catches and the out was upheld.

I honestly think if the same exact thing happened in the outfield it wouldn't be called a catch either. Either way I've seen much worse calls.

The only Mets no hitter actually had a hit they missed. So ya even when we win it's tainted. ;)

The Giants have a shot at achieving the dream trifecta that the Red Sox almost got to achieve in 2018:

(1) Your rival (Dodgers) wins 100+ games;
(2) Your rival nonetheless fails to win their division, while you do;
(3) Your rival loses the one game wild card game.

The thing is that I like the Dodgers (mainly I like Mookie), but I do want to see this happen someday. Maybe this is the year!

73-78 they aren't even going to make .500 and they were 7 games up at the break. Time to speculate on who the new manager will be. Rojas will likely never get another shot in the bigs. They actually did worse when most of the starters came back. Good job ..

Lets hope so. Yesterday's game was preview of October torture. We just got to keep winning. Would love to see the dodgers lose at the same time. This division is crazy.

Crazier than the AL East? The fourth place team in the AL East (the Yankees) are 85-67, and the AL East is going to supply 60% of the AL playoff teams.

God, this Red Sox team. They really only needed to win one game at Fenway vs. the Yankees, and of course they got swept. And because they are the 2021 (second half) Red Sox, they managed to find the most painful ways to lose, especially going into the 8th inning in two games with the lead, and giving up 4 runs each time. My "favorite" was when they were up 2-1 with two outs and nobody on in game 2, and Red Sox relievers proceeded to do: walk, walk, hit batter, grand slam.

I guess I should be glad that at least they're not the Mets.

7 games up at the all star break and we won't even come close to .500. Honestly they were lucky as hell to be up 7 games it wasn't like they were playing well. That's the beauty of a long season as the crap gets exposed. :P Cohen is going to have a hell of a time purging all the garbage from the last 30 years. By the time they get their shit together deGrom will be gone. They are talking about having him and Noah pitching this week. F no shut them down...

It's sort of funny that I'm emotionally invested in whether the Red Sox make the playoffs, when really they're obviously not a serious contender regardless. Like, the most optimistic scenario here is that things break their way in the wild card game and then they win maybe one game in the Divisional Series.

This is Heaven LLC.
Baseball Hall of Famer Frank Thomas has become a television advertising fixture over the past few years, and on Thursday he bought into a site that has graced television screens for over a quarter century. The Big Hurt joined real estate developer Rick Heidner in buying controlling interests in the Field of Dreams Movie Site and its sister company, All-Star Ballpark Heaven.

The movie site's new ownership group, Thomas and Heidner's This is Heaven LLC, will name Thomas the CEO and former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dan Evans the chief operating officer.

The NL Wild Card game will be enjoyable. Either the Cardinals or the Dodgers will be eliminated in one game. :pop:

Game 162! If the Red Sox win today against the Nationals then they host the wild card game. If they lose they play a tiebreaker tomorrow. Four way tie is still in play.

I don't know that I've ever seen a shittier bullpen on a contending team, though. They have two semi-decent relievers, then Cora starts pulling people out of the stands.

Luckily for you the Red Sox is playing a team whose bullpen likes to shit the bed on a regular basis...

You're on your own though in the post season since you won't have the Nationals to kick around anymore!
