RIP Rene Auberjonois

He was perfectly cast in both Benson and Star Trek, Deep Space 9. In recent years, he was superb as the audiobook reader for the Doug Preston/Lincoln Child Pendergas series. I'm really going to miss him.

Since I've started watching DS9 again, two of the actors have died. I feel like I should stop. I know he did many things, but he'll always be Odo to me. RIP.
Maybe next year, maybe no go

Not sure about the others, but wasn't Ethan Phlilips ST: Voyager?

Re: RIP Rene Auberjonois
Thought so. I hoped Smoove's death vibes were limited to DS-9 and not all things Star Trek. Although the demise of D.C. Fontana could indicate Smoove is wreaking havoc among the entire franchise. And if that's the case...someone please get The Shat under preemptive medical care!

Re: RIP Rene Auberjonois
He has looked old and feeble for years to me. Always surprises me to see pics of him and remember him as the badass of DS9.
This death is shocking to me. I thought he was doing great. Wasn't he a part of the recent documentary reunion thing for DS9? Its funny Ive always thought of him as old. I guess it was the age difference in me and him. As a child I thought he was old on Benson. When I saw he was going to be in DS9 I thought why did they hire such an old man for that part. It wasn't until lately I felt he was younger than I ever thought and doing well. Now he is gone. Sad.
RIP. Goodbye René and thanks for all the character entertainment you provided in my years.

Oh man, this one's a gut-punch. He was an incredibly gifted actor. I'd actually start getting worried for William Shatner at this point.
That made me do a double-take as I first thought she might have meant Johnathan Frakes aka her husband in Nemesis.

79 is a good long run, and he leaves behind a lot of work that people will continue to enjoy for many years. Of course, he'll always be Odo to me.

Ouch. I just finished a run of DS9 a few months ago (the umpteenth one for me, but the first for the kids.) It's been a bad year for Star Trek. Aron Eisenberg, DC Fontana, Barbara March, and now Rene Auberjonois.

Re: RIP Rene Auberjonois
I remember him more from the sequel to the Jack Lemon/Henry Fonda movie called Mister Roberts. Walker Jr played Ensign Pulver in the sequel titled Ensign Pulver. No, it wasn't a great movie but it used to be on Saturday afternoons back in the day.Daehawk wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 12:54 pm Speaking of Star Trek deaths.......

Re: RIP Rene Auberjonois
I may have to seek that out, as Mister Roberts is one of my favorites. But I have a hard time getting over his oddly-shaped head.
