Seven [Isometric RPG by Witcher folk]

Post by Grifman »

Seven is a Thief-inspired, 3D isometric RPG, in which you take on a role of a lone traveller. You’re going to explore a nonlinear, sandbox world- Empire of Vetrall.

Classic isometric gameplay is going to be redefined with parkour climbing system that gives you the ability of free-traversing obstacles on any height horizontally and vertically.

Quest line set in a „beyond post-apocalyptic” environment is created by minds behind The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. You can expect branching choices with moral consequences. More to come soon.

Anything inspired by Thief has got my attention.
This won't be coming anytime soon, will it?

No, I don't think so. From the game's website:
Seven is a Thief-inspired, 3D isometric RPG, in which you take on the role of a lone traveller. You’re going to explore a nonlinear, sandbox world - the Empire of Vetrall.

Classic isometric gameplay is going to be redefined. We have created a parkour climbing system that gives you the ability of free-traversing obstacles, of any height, horizontally and vertically.

Oh, I know the gameplay isn't. Seeing the art design and hearing the music, though, Borderlands was the first thing to pop into my head.

Yeah. It's close to that - lots of shades of brown and looks like some cell shading.

The gameplay, though, looks like an isometric Assassin's Creed.

They lost me at "parkour". Why do I foresee a game devolving into a series of jumping puzzles?

Unfortunately, it's control scheme is built around a controller so that probably excludes me. Just can't deal with controllers, has to be kb+mouse for me :(

Where are you guys seeing this controller only? That makes no sense. Its a PC rpg of course it will support kb/mouse. The jumping stuff wouldn't require a controller.

I sent them a msg asking if Seven would have full support for keyboard and mouse and they replied via email just now...
Hi,

Sure it’ll have.

I wouldn't say lost me, I would say have me concerned. If Parkour is code for point and click path finding in a 3D landscape then I'm good. If Parkour is code for jumping puzzles, then I'm out.

I dont recall having all that much trouble with U8's jumping. Then again I never finished it.

Parkour...I hate it from the word itself to the stupid shit that the stupid people do. But I think in Seven the movement stuff looks great and needed. Fits in and should be fine.

The game looks nice, and I can see the gameplay working with the parkour, but I hope I don't have to listen to the narrator (presumably the protagonist) prattle on too much. Geralt, he ain't.
